QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES, June 1, 2007. Q-Linux Labs, the country’s pioneer and most respected name in Linux and Open Source, has again come up with another first with the delivery of a series of trainings in business-ready open source applications for the enterprise.
Beginning June, the company will start to offer trainings on the open source versions of enterprise applications that are members of the Red Hat Exchange (RHX). These include best of breed, business-ready applications in CRM, Content Management, and Communications, Just some of those included in the lineup are the community and open source versions of SugarCRM, Centric CRM, Alfresco, Zimbra and many others.
“Open Source has traditionally been associated with software powering the back-end of businesses such as software libraries, toolkits, databases, and of course operating systems—the best example of which is Linux,” quipped Mr. Jan Pabellon, VP of Business Development at Q-Linux Labs. “All of that is changing with the great interest in the Open Source community in coming up with applications in areas as diverse as Customer Relationship Management, Content Management, Unified Communications, Network and Systems Management and many others. The Open Source community is applying a lot of what it has learned in building the bottom of the enterprise software stack to go after the players higher up the value chain—in enterprise applications where the real value in enterprise IT lies. This has been validated with the launch of Red Hat of its Red Hat Exchange network—a move seen by many to legitimize open source in enterprise applications with Red Hat’s support and endorsement,” Mr. Pabellon added.
“In applications, one of the main barriers to adoption is perception and of course knowledge and skills in the proper use of these solutions. Q-Linux Labs aims to bridge that gap by providing courses that not only provides participants with familiarity and technical training on the use of these applications but also provide them with a foundation in best practices in many common business processes to properly implement the software.”
Jan continues to add “IT should, at the end of the day, be seen as an enabler for the more effective and efficient conduct of business. With Open Source, any business, no matter its size, can now try for itself applications that traditionally have been the domain of only the big companies. This dramatically levels the playing field for all players no matter what industry or location, and improves the level of competition and service provided to end customers. In the long term, that is good for everyone.”
